Chantilly covers a wide range of homes. Neighborhoods like Greenbriar and Brookfield date back several decades, while newer townhouses and single-family homes fill the areas toward Fair Lakes and the Loudoun County side, where some addresses also carry a Chantilly mailing label. Close to Dulles Airport and the Route 28 corridor, the area sees cold winter mornings that test any heating system. Whatever age your furnace is, the same crew handles your heat and your plumbing, as our Chantilly service page shows.

OLDER VS NEWER

Furnace Age Changes the Repair Conversation

An older standard-efficiency furnace vents through a metal flue, often into a chimney, and has fairly simple controls. Repairs tend to involve ignitors, thermocouples on very old units, blower motors and limit switches. These furnaces can run a long time, but parts get harder to source as they age, and a cracked heat exchanger ends the discussion. A high-efficiency condensing furnace vents through plastic pipe and produces water as a byproduct. That adds a condensate trap, drain line and sometimes a small pump, and those parts cause a large share of service calls. A clogged trap can shut the furnace down completely even though the burners and controls are fine. We know both designs and check the right things on each. See our furnace repair page for more.

What We Check on a Chantilly No-Heat Call

In roughly the order the furnace uses them during a normal startup.

Thermostat and power

Settings, batteries, the service switch and the furnace door safety switch. A loose door panel can keep a furnace from starting.

Inducer and pressure switch

The draft has to be proven before ignition. Blocked vents and cracked tubing are common faults.

Ignitor and flame sensor

Hot surface ignitors crack with age, and flame sensors collect residue. Both cause no-heat calls.

Condensate trap and drain

On high-efficiency units, a clogged trap or frozen drain line triggers a shutdown.

Heat exchanger and venting

We inspect for cracks, corrosion and proper exhaust, since those affect safety, not just comfort.

Fantastic service - bought a home with a very old hot water heater, and Brick Street’s quote came out to be substantially less than the other plumbers I spoke with. No compromise on service for the price, though - Mary was incredibly responsive and friendly when it came to scheduling a time to install the new water heater, and Tylerr did an outstanding job getting the water heater set up and running. Overall very easy to work with, reasonably priced, and professional!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Service – Highly Recommend Brick Street Plumbing Water Heaters I recently had my entire HVAC system replaced after my old unit had been in my home for over 20 years. I requested an estimate through Home Depot, and they referred me to Brick Street Plumbing. Water Heaters, From beginning to end, my experience was excellent! Brian came to my home, carefully explained the different options available, and walked me through the entire installation process. He was very professional, knowledgeable, patient, and always available to answer my questions. Communication with Brian was outstanding throughout the entire project. One of the best parts of the installation was that they were able to relocate my water heater into an unused space in my basement. This made the entire HVAC area much more spacious, organized, and accessible. I am extremely happy with how everything turned out! I also want to recognize Austin, Gmo, and Dani for their excellent work. They were professional, hardworking, respectful of my home, and paid great attention to detail. Update 10/2/2026 The manager got in touch with us and promptly sent out a service technician that was able to quickly diagnose and troubleshoot the issue with our thermostat. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ We got our AC replaced by Brick Street through Home Depot. After a week our AC wasn't working so we had to put in a service call. They came out and fixed it. Then our heating wasn't working and we put in a service call to have a tech come out to and troubleshoot but their HVAC department has been non responsive via email or voice mail. We are not able to get in contact with them at all. Will not be doing business with this company again. Very poor customer service.

WHEN REPAIR IS NOT ENOUGH

Replacing a Furnace in Chantilly

If the heat exchanger is cracked, the furnace is very old and needs a major part, or repairs have become a yearly event, we will talk through furnace installation as an option. That conversation covers sizing based on your home rather than the old label, efficiency level, venting changes and whether a heat pump or dual-fuel setup suits the house. Some Chantilly homeowners in older neighborhoods choose a high-efficiency furnace and need a new plastic vent run, while others keep a standard model to use the existing flue. Our general furnace overview is there to read at your own pace. We serve Chantilly and the nearby communities on our service area page, and our plumbing team works across the same towns.

Frequently asked questions

Why is water leaking from my high-efficiency furnace?
High-efficiency furnaces produce condensation, which drains through a trap and a line to a floor drain or condensate pump. Water on the floor usually means the trap is clogged, the drain line is blocked or disconnected, or the pump has failed. Many of these furnaces also shut down when the drain backs up. Clearing and resealing the drain system is typically a straightforward repair.
What does a flashing light on my furnace control board mean?
The flashing LED is a diagnostic code. Most furnaces have a chart on the inside of the door panel that matches the number of flashes to a fault, such as a pressure switch, flame sensing or limit problem. Write down the pattern before you turn the power off, because cycling power often clears it. That code helps the technician go straight to the right component.
How do I know if my furnace should be replaced instead of repaired?
Replacement usually makes more sense when the heat exchanger is cracked, when a major part like the inducer or control board fails on an old unit, or when you are calling for repairs every season. Rising energy bills and uneven heating can add to the case. We give you the repair price and the replacement option side by side, so the choice is yours.
Do you repair dual-fuel systems with a heat pump and a gas furnace?
Yes. In a dual-fuel setup, the heat pump handles mild weather and the gas furnace takes over when it gets colder. Problems can come from either piece of equipment or from the controls that switch between them. Our technicians are trained on both heat pumps and furnaces, so we can diagnose the whole system in one visit.
Does Brick Street handle plumbing in Chantilly too?
Yes. We are a combined plumbing and HVAC company with dual-certified technicians. In Chantilly we repair water heaters, leaks, drains, sewer lines and sump pumps and install water softeners and filtration, in addition to heating and cooling work. Plumbing calls get the same 24/7 availability and the same no-overtime pricing.
